Council response

Dear Petition Signatory,

I am writing on behalf of the London Borough of Lewisham to acknowledge and appreciate your concern regarding the future of Grove Park Library, as outlined in your recent petition. We highly value the input of our community members, and your dedication to preserving this essential resource has not gone unnoticed.

Firstly, I would like to assure you that Lewisham remains fully committed to maintaining a vibrant library service in Grove Park. We recognize the invaluable role that the library plays in fostering community engagement, promoting literacy, and providing a welcoming space for residents of all ages.

I am pleased to inform you that a new leaseholder for the Grove Park Library building has been appointed. S&B Childcare Limited has taken on this responsibility, ensuring the continued operation of the library. In fact, the library is currently open to the public, and we encourage all community members to take advantage of its resources and services.

Furthermore, I am delighted to share that we are organising an official celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of the Grove Park Library. The event is scheduled to take place on 20 January 2024, and we extend a warm invitation to all supporters of the petition. This celebration will not only commemorate the library’s rich history but also serve as a testament to the strong community spirit that propels us forward.

Your unwavering support for Grove Park Library has been instrumental, and we are grateful for the passion and dedication demonstrated by you and the other signatories. We believe that together, we can ensure the continued success and vitality of our beloved library.

Once again, thank you for your commitment to the Grove Park community and its cultural heritage. We look forward to celebrating the 70th anniversary of the library with you and other supporters.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
We value your input and remain committed to working collaboratively with the community to enhance the library services in Grove Park.

Sincerely,

Antonio Rizzo
