Consideration of Mayoral nominations

Minutes:

 

1. Proposal of Mayoral Nominees

 

The Mayor confirmed Councillor Chris Barnham would be the statutory Lead

Member with responsibility for Children’s Social Care. The Mayor then made a

single speech in respect of the following nominees to his Cabinet:

 

Deputy Mayor of Lewisham – Cllr Chris Best

Cabinet Member for Housing - Cllr Paul Bell

Cabinet Member for Democracy, Refugees & Accountability – Cllr Kevin

Bonavia

Cabinet Member for Parks, Neighbourhoods & Transport - Cllr Brenda Dacres

and Cllr Sophie McGeevor (job-share)

Cabinet Member for School Performance – Cllr Chris Barnham

Cabinet Member for Safer Communities – Cllr Joani Reid

Cabinet Member for Finance, Skills & Jobs - Cllr Amanda de Ryk and Cllr Joe

Dromey (job-share).

Cabinet Member for the Community Sector – Cllr Jonathan Slater

 

2. Confirmation of Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Health & Adult

Social Care

 

Following an address by Councillor Best, it was agreed by 30 votes to nil to

confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the nomination

of Councillor Chris Best as Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Health &

Adult Social Care.

 

3. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for School Performance

 

Following an address by Councillor Barnham and a question by Councillor

Millbank, it was agreed by 30 votes to nil to confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Chris Barnham as Cabinet Member for School

Performance.

 

4. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Housing

 

Following an address by Councillor Bell and questions from Councillors Wise

and Codd, it was agreed by 30 votes to nil to confirm the appointment.

           

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the nomination

of Councillor Paul Bell as Cabinet Member for Housing.

 

5. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Democracy, Refugees & Accountability

 

Following an address by Councillor Bonavia, it was agreed by 30 votes to nil

to confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Kevin Bonavia as Cabinet Member for Democracy,

Refugees & Accountability.

 

6. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Parks, Neighbourhoods & Transport

 

Following an address by Councillor Dacres and a question by Councillor

Ingleby, it was agreed by 30 votes to nil to confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Brenda Dacres as Cabinet Member for Parks,

Neighbourhoods & Transport.

 

7. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Parks, Neighbourhoods & Transport

 

Following an address by Councillor McGeevor and a question by Councillor

Wise, it was agreed by 32 votes to nil to confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Sophie McGeevor as Cabinet Member for Parks,

Neighbourhoods & Transport.

 

8. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Finance, Skills & Jobs

 

Following an address by Councillor De Ryk, and questions from Councillors

Millbank and Smith it was agreed by 32 votes to nil to confirm the

appointment.

           

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Amanda De Ryk as Cabinet Member for Finance,

Skills & Jobs

 

9. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Finance, Skills & Jobs

 

Following an address by Councillor Dromey, and questions from Councillors

Ingleby and Millbank it was agreed by 33 votes to nil to confirm the

appointment.

           

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Joe Dromey as Cabinet Member for Finance, Skills &

Jobs.

 

10. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for Safer Communities

 

Following an address by Councillor Reid, and a question from Councillor

Davis it was agreed by 35 votes to nil to confirm the appointment.

           

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the

nomination of Councillor Joani Reid as Cabinet Member for Safer

Communities.

 

11. Confirmation of Cabinet Member for the Community Sector

           

Following an address by Councillor Slater, it was agreed by 36 votes to nil to

confirm the appointment.

 

RESOLVED that the Mayor be informed the Council supports the nomination

of Councillor Jonathan Slater as Cabinet Member for the Community Sector.
