The Housing Select Committee
monitors, reviews and makes recommendations about a wide range of
local housing matters, including homelessness, housing conditions
and affordable housing.
It gives local councillors the
opportunity to question council officers and cabinet members and to
influence the decisions made by the Mayor and Cabinet in relation
to housing. It also enables councillors to hear from local
residents, housing providers, and other interested
groups.
The Committee chooses the
housing-related issues it wants to focus on each year and holds
five public meetings. The agenda and papers for each are published
online in advance.
