The Children and Young People
Select Committee looks at issues relating to children and young
people, principally:
·
schools and related services (including early years,
alternative provision, post-16)
·
children’s social services
·
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
provision for children and young people up to age 25
·
youth services
·
transition for care leavers.
The Committee holds
decision-makers to account, challenges budgetary and policy
decisions and influences policy-making by making
recommendations.
The Committee chooses the
issues it wants to focus on each year and holds five public meetings. The agenda and papers for each are
published online in advance.
