Welcome from the Chair

Minutes:

Councillor Maslin opened the meeting introducing himself. He invited Winston Castello (Head of Community Enterprise) to explain the format of the meeting. Winston explained the process; this a project voting event and groups will present their projects and then the assembly will decide on which projects they want to see funded by a vote.

8.

New Cross Assembly fund project presentations

Minutes:

The groups with successful applications, were invited to present their projects to the assembly. The groups presenting their projects included:

  • Signal (Autism Support)
  • REMEC Youth Club (Young Health Promoters)
  • Anyadwe Children and Welfare Association (Promoting healthy lifestyles)
  • The Albany (Albany Youth Forum)

Two groups could not make the meeting to present (Ilderton Motor Vehicle Project and Saint Michael’s Community Centre) their projects and as a result, were unable to be put forward for the voting process. Saint Michael’s Community Centre were spoken very highly of by Disciple Samuel and another local organisation. They highlighted the great work that they do and the good reputation that they have.

9.

Vote counting and awarded groups

Minutes:

After the presentations had finished, Councillor Suggested that as there was enough funding for the groups that had presented, an option could be that the Assembly could agree to fund the projects through a show of hands. Councillor Maslin, explained that he was happy to go with any process agreed by the Assembly, and if they would like to do individual vote counts we could. The assembly agreed a show of hands would be sufficient and all projects that presented were deemed worthwhile and needed in the area.
