Welcome from the Chair


Cllr Sophie Davis, Chair of the Forest Hill Assembly welcomed everyone to the

meeting and introduced Cllr Peter Bernards and Cllr Leo Gibbons


Mais Housing Update- Michael Kettle


The City of London Corporation (the City Corporation) is developing proposals to deliver new homes at Mais House as well looking at other possible areas for redevelopment within the estate. The proposals will provide 110 new homes for social rent. These homes will be provided in a new part four, six an seven storey building on the Mais House site with 99 homes (Block A, B, C) and a row of 11 terraced homes – made up of two and three storey buildings on the site of the Otto Close garages.


 A planning application will be submitted towards the end of the year.



Clean air for Forest Hill update - Alice Harte


Alice Harte delivered the presentation; ‘Clean Air for SE23’


  • To reduce air pollution in Forest Hill which will improve the physical and mental health of residents especially children.
  • To reduce car emissions by promoting behavioural change and to mitigate emissions through greening and street planting projects.
  • Welcome secondary effects of reducing CO2 and climate change and creating corridors for wildlife

Update on tree planting in Forest Hill - Stuart Checkley


Stuart Checkley delivered the presentation; ‘Street Trees for Living’

Summary of what they and their supporters do on a typical street:

·         Raise funds for trees using leaflets, social media and other informal contacts

·         Select, photograph and survey planting sites and decide on species of trees

·         Care for trees for the their first two years, watering them and detecting any problems


ü  639 trees planted in Lewisham over 7 years

ü  235 trees were planted last Winter in Lewisham

ü  60 trees planted in SE23 last Winter

Consultation: Introducing licensing for all private rented homes in the borough, Presentation by Sean Longley


Nick Long delivered the presentation; ‘The Private Rented Sector – licensing’

Their aims are the following:

  • We enforce standards in private rented sector housing
  • We deal with complaints from landlords, tenants and external agencies
  • We support tenants and landlords
  • Our rogue landlord team works to:

ü  prevent illegal evictions

ü  address landlord harassment


They also advised pf the Public consultation:

  • Get involved and have your say on uk/renting or search for the Lewisham Council Consultation Hub
  • The public consultation opened on 28th May 2019 and will close on 20th August 2019

·         Potential HMOs (existing or in process of conversion)

·         Disrepair in private rented property

·         Rogue landlords

·         Empty homes
