A2 - Christmas Theatre Trip for local families – Brockley Parents Forum

·        Sam from the Brockley Parents Forum introduced Janet Pearson from the Children’s Society to talk about the project.

·        They also want to increase awareness of Children's Centres and that the Children's Society is now running these and to promote the Parents Forum and get more people to join in.

·        Janet said that a contribution of £1 from each family that go is being asked for and that one-third of the tickets would go to children in need.

·        The Chair opened the meeting up for questions.

·        Q1. Are the tickets for a family or individuals?

·        A1. For an individual - usually balance between adults and children but sometimes more of the latter

·        Q2. Where do children come from?

·        A2. They are all Brockley residents and come from all over the ward.

·        Q3. Why aren't all the tickets going to people in need?

·        A3. The Children’s Centre is a targetted early years service so lots of the tickets will go to families on low incomes.

·        Q4. Have you thought about taking just the children so can involve more?

·        A4. A parent/guardian have to be present to allow the project to go ahead, not enough staff resources.

Community Feedback

St John's Action Group asked the Assembly to endorse the following motion: “We the residents of St. John's living around the Thameslink rail works are suffering with sleeplessness from continuous nightly construction at St. John's station. The vibrations, machinery, lorries, trains, workers voices, hammering, drilling and shaking of our homes foundations all cause nightly discomfort. We ask that the local assembly support us in our future endeavours to allow this process to proceed with consultation, communication and consideration afforded to the residents of St. John's by Network Rail, Birse, Lewisham Council and Lewisham Homes.”

  • The Assembly unanimously supported the motion

Rupert King spoke about the Council’s survey on parking and urged everyone to complete it.
